Connecting Universal Design to my Lesson Planning Rao writes that Universal Design for Learning (UDL) incorporates three principles: Representation, Action and Expression, and Engagement (2021). Each of these three principles have 3 supporting guidelines, and a total of 31 checkpoints. By incorporating these principles and guidelines proactively, teachers can ensure that their curriculum and lesson plans integrate inclusive strategies that support all learners.
